Samenvatting
Een forensische polikliniek zoals de Ambulante Forensische Polikliniek Noord Nederland (AFPN) te Groningen is in eerste instantie opgezet om mensen te behandelen die een delict hebben of dreigen te begaan. Vanouds lag de nadruk op de behandeling van ‘daders’ van partnergeweld. De laatste jaren is er een toenemende belangstelling voor een meer systemische invalshoek. Onze ervaring is inmiddels dat partnerrelatietherapie een effectieve manier is om echtparen te helpen die kampen met relationeel geweld. In dit artikel wordt beschreven hoe bij de AFPN Groningen relationeel geweld systemisch wordt benaderd.
Summary Fighting violence together – Group therapy for couples struggling with partner violence
Originally a forensic outpatient department was set up to treat people who had committed an offence or threatened to do so. Traditionally emphasis was on treating partner violence ‘offenders’. In recent years there has been an increasing interest in a more systemic approach. By now, our experience is that couple therapy is an effective way to help couples struggling with partner violence. This article describes how this forensic outpatient department in Groningen approaches partner violence along systemic lines.
